Video: A Night At Horse Meat Disco

HMD dancers 2 squareHorse Meat Disco’s weekly residency at The Eagle is a London Sunday institution; a place for revelers to stave of the work week for a few more hours of dancing and debauchery. The party is a truly unique and affirming experience, and one of the reasons we connected with the crew for a series of compilations of top-notch disco treats. If a trip to London isn’t in your near future, this video takes you inside the club. Shot over Easter Weekend, it captures much of what we love about Horse Meat Disco.

HMD’s fourth collection with be out on June 16th. Orders are available via iTunes, Amazon, and the Strut Store. For more info, visit http://www.horsemeatdisco-thealbum.com/

Haiti Direct: Out Now!

Literally years in the making, our Haiti Direct collection, compiled by Hugo Mendez of Sofrito, is out and available in stores. The two disc collection celebrates the overlooked musical legacy of Haiti, going beyond Ra-ra and voodoo stereotypes to trace the development of a unique sound that echoed across the Caribbean, yet remains relatively under the radar outside of the region.

Support from fans, press, and radio has been amazing, with BBC Radio 6 Music playlisting regularly, and the Sunday Times calling the collection “essential listening.”

Haiti Direct is available on 2xCD, 2xLP (with CD included), and digital download, and can be purchased from local music retailers, as well as iTunes, Amazon, and the Strut Store.

Get To Know Our Friends Tiger’s Milk Records

It’s our pleasure to introduce a new label that we’re really excited about. Tiger’s Milk Records is the brain child of the founders of Ceviche, a much lauded Peruvian restaurant based in London’s Soho. As deep connoisseurs of Peruvian culture, Tiger’s Milk Records was conceived as a means of sharing Peru’s rich and multi-faceted music, both past and present.

Peru Maravilloso

The label’s debut full-length release will be a collection entitled Peru Maravilloso. Painstakingly researched to uncover a host of rare chicha, salsa, rock, psych and one-off fusions, the album was compiled by Ceviche boss Martin Morales along with Duncan Ballantyne (Soundway Records, Far Out, Naive) and Andres Tapia (of Peru’s Resychled Records). Whether you’re completely new to the music or a hardy collector, it’s an incredible snapshot of one of the most vibrant eras in Peruvian music history.

Peru Maravilloso will be out November 12th on Tiger’s Milk, in association with Strut. You can stream one of the tracks from the collection,  “Mambo De Machaguay” by Lucho Neves, below.
